Peplums

The peplums trend this spring is one of my favorites this upcoming season. As many other sculptural and volum shapes it’s unfortunately hard to pull off, but when someone manages to pull it off it looks awesome. I spotted this nice black and white striped one at Lindex the other day. It would simply look cool with a pair of black leather slim fit trousers, for example.

A Doll’s House

The 70’s hippie style is returning in a modern version this fall. Boho-chic has never been a part of my personal style vocabulary, but when it is styled in a more doll sense, it’s suddenly so much more “me”. Hello delicate socks in wedges, bow hairband, patterned babydoll dress which was found in my mother’s wardrobe (I think I just might have to exchange closets with her soon) and weird transformed legs are also a genetic heritage from her. Wore a beige biker-ish leather jacket over when I went to the Elle and Bianco event followed up by a stop at the Monki Magazine release yesterday evening.

Spring Fever With Addison #3

The Topshop Addison wedges fever continues. I know the metallics are getting a bit old and the clouds prints are more 2009 than 2010, but this dark cloudy long t-shirt by DRKSHDW got me excited. Probably the first and last time I’ll ever feel so pleased with dark clouds. At least I teamed the so called passé items with this seasons hottest round shaped shades by Topshop Unique, the never stopping spring trend with floral tights and the popular nail polish shade in a pop of turquoise. Personally the zipper pull earrings remind me of spring 2009, I think I used mine to death and when I literally killed them by loosing them on some dance floor, I had a dream about these ones in silver by Marc by Marc Jacobs. The metallic vest by Fendi is a statement piece of it’s own, a subtle statement in my opinion.

Proenza Schouler Fall 2010

New York Fashion Week is ending today and I finally have time to catch up on all the shows from my favorite Fashion Week now that I’m back somewhere with an internet connection that doesn’t spend half a lifetime to load an image.

My favorite of all is actually Proenza Schouler. That’s a new one. Yes, it even beats Marc Jacobs and Marc by Marc Jacobs this time. (I’m sorry, Marc!) Schouler actually had me at the babydoll dresses in the fierce patterns and exclusive colors. After the Fashion Weeks so far I’m definitely smelling a trend with visible sheer socks, but the thigh high socks are just cool enough for school peaking just below the dress. I love the total coolness of the rest of the collection: the patterns, the mix-matching, the royal blue, the touch of fur and the hint of preppyness – not to mention the last girl in my collage who is Jenny Sinkaberg a friend of mine from high school rocking the runways nowadays. The Proenza Schouler girl is ready for college, and I so want to be that girl this fall.

Surrender To The Denim

Ok, so I surrender to the denim on denim trend and tried my own twist today. I feel like a teen all over again. Hah! So I thought I might just throw in some neon pink and a pair of blingy shoes as accessories around my neck, just to highlight the teenage feeling. And oh, I forgot how good these frayed light denim Tiger of Sweden jeans are on. Tiger are my all time favorite brand of jeans along with Sass&Bide and Acne.

Now I have to finish reading The Ladies’ Paradise by Émile Zola for the seminarium tomorrow. Uhm, a few…hundred pages to go. All in all it’s an interesting and old classic book focusing on the nineteenth hundred century consumer culture that was rising in France along with the new department stores like Bon Marché in Paris. I have a feeling that it’s going to make me all nostalgic to a time I didn’t even experience myself the next time I enter a department store like NK or PUB in Stockholm.

Two Thousand And Late

I just went through my documents and cleaned some folders and accidentally stumbled upon a bunch of old outfits photos. Boy, I was active on that front a few years back. My old readers might even remember?! Anyways, you know the infamous one-side long braid also known as the Alexander Wang braid after all his models went running down the catwalk with one long thick braid to the left side during his Spring/Summer 2010 Collection? Well, Mr Hairstylist, you’re really two thousand and late! After further inspections I did this braid already in 2007. Hah! Did someone say pre-trendy? Yes! I guess I’m not alone on that part, and actually I just braid my hair when it’s too greasy to be out or I’m short on time in the morning to fix it any other way. Either way, after browsing through a lot of old pictures I realized I miss my long hair. Must it grow faster than it normally does now!

Set Sail

AnOther Mag loves the pirate ship earrings by Flotsam & Jetsam and so do I. Totally awesome! Just give me an eye-patch, a bottle of rum and I’m all ready to set sail. I know I’m way ahead dreaming about the sunny season here in cold dirty snow covered Scandinavia, but if I’m going to integrate this seasons denim trend in my summer wardrobe I think I would do it perfectly with this light denim playsuit with puffy shoulders by See by Chloé. Looks so chic and comfortable.  While some resembles red, specifically shoes, with prostitutes, I still some how got a weakness for red shoes. These wedges over at the new Norwegian online shop Motedronningen are firing hot.

Now someone just has to give me summer asap. Thank you in advance!

Denim Mania

Fashion bloggers are excited by the denim on denim trend that will be ruling this spring. We saw good examples over at Chloé and Stella McCartney Spring 2010 collections. I’m not really convinced yet. I love denim, but not too much denim. Reminds me off 7th grade when I lived in my Lois denim patched jeans. Denim patched together from top to toe!

Nevertheless, I love this editorial in the latest Swedish Elle magazine featuring Norwegian and wonderful Siri Tollerød. She’s all greasy and cool in denim! I don’t think I’ll go for the greasy look, but I definitely have to get a light denim colored shirt for spring. I noticed Bik Bok and Gina Tricot are having great options in stores.

Chanel Ink

Chanel-tattoo

Photo: jakandjil.com/blog

So the Chanel tattoos from the SS 2010 collection have arrived for us deadly human beings. Personally, I don’t get the excitement. I think it’s übercool the fact that Karl Lagerfeld actually is turning tattoo into a trend in fashion. L.A Ink might be trendy in L.A, but it’s not a trend thing because real tattoos normally last forever…and evah and trend comes and goes. It would have been fun to play around with the Chanel tattoos, but esthetically pretty? Neh, it’s not. Now I’m not a tattoo person at all, and if I’d ever (like never) decide to put permanent ink on my skin it would be a cute bow or an anchor by the wrist or ankle.  Most likely it won’t happen in this life, so speculations saved. Clean body ftw.

Clearly Transparent

weekday-transparency

One of spring’s hottest trends are hitting the stores like fresh bread in the morning nowadays. It’s time to let little to the imagination because when spring arrives we will be wearing lots of transparency! I like what I see and I like even more what I can feel. The sheer and soft feeling of the transparent fabrics are perfect when it’s hot outside. We’re definitely speaking a few months ahead, but since I live for spring this is all I can think about fashion wise. Weekday has already embraced the trend. So go stack up on the light fabrics and plain tank tops or nude underwear for layering. Because you will be wearing transparency, right?

Desperately Seeking Underwear

I got sent home from the library earlier today because I’ve obviously catch a not fun cold. Spent the rest of my day on the couch under the dune and catch up with films I missed earlier during lectures. Recently saw Desperately Seeking Susan from 1985 starring Madonna and Rosanna Arquette. Today’s fashion actually reminds me a lot of the style in the film. Trendy girls today aren’t exactly pulling off the trash-chic style Madonna started back in the 80s today, but we’re in love with the red lips, studs, overload of jeweleries, big earrings and not to mention underwear worn as clothes. Underwear worn on show had another symbol in Desperately Seeking Susan but girls on the street now most likely wear it because it looks hot. And some of the girls do look hot hot hot!

Sonia Rykiel released an underwear collection for H&M this weekend. I like the black lace corset top, but personally I’d feel too naked wearing only that and a blazer. I guess I’m too preppy for that style. On the other hand, the fantastic Hanneli is giving away this beautiful embellished bra over at her blog, and I know exactly how I’d wear that wonderful piece without feeling naked. I don’t have much winning luck in anything. but it doesn’t hurt to try! One day the luck must turn, hopefully this time. Sooo want this one! Try your luck too! :)

H&M Divided Goes Exclusive?

(Photo: stylemind.blogg.se)

H&M Divided Exclusive Fall collection arrived in stores today. I haven’t had time to look yet, but judging from the photos from Nitrolicious earlier, it’s a lot of black. Probably just black or monochrome shades at least.

I do like most of the items, especially the tweed jacket and matching shorts and the gladiator heels. On the other hand I’m also leaning towards a tiredness of the all black glam-rock trend, which is highly popular over here in Scandinavia. Balmain didn’t make the trend less popular either.

I’ve always loved the new glam-rock; studs, sequins, leather, acid wash jeans and etc. Because of the mix of materials and the contrast of glam and rock is fabolous. I guess I’m just tired of it when it appears in every shop and every girl at every corner. Just as any other cool trend, it spreads like the wind.

So I’m debating whether this collection is as exclusive as it wants after all? Then again, H&M is a high street clothing chain which aims on sellingto the consumers  -  and trends definitely sell.  I wouldn’t say no thank you if any of you gave me any of the items though.
