Style Dot Com App

The best thing about having an iPhone is having the Style.com application. Ok, right after Wordfeud of course. But with the Style.com app, I always have fashion on the go.

Got Daddy Issues?

Fashion blogs are starting to bore me, including my own. Just a period I go through now and then, sort of like a mini puberty in blog sense. Luckily, first Fashion Week is coming up everywhere and second there’s an ocean of other blogs to read. The photo above taken from John Mayer’s blog is one  of the reasons why he is on the list of my top favorite bloggers. His blog is in a way very random, but yet every post is so cool. Totally recommended.

Smiley

Yesterday I arrive at work and already managed to tore a big hole in the back off my stockings the first minutes. I got one of my colleagues to draw  a smiley…and tada! One less thing to worry about and one more thing to smile about.

Something New

Wednesday, March 17th, 2010

Something old, something new. Something borrowed, something blue. Neither of these two shirts are old or borrowed, but they are new, one of them is blue and both from H&M Divided. If I was to follow the traditional myth, it’s lucky I’m not getting married yet. I’m just feeding my addiction to transparent fabrics. These synthetic fabrics tend to cling to the skin and go all static at times. A tip is to spray a cloth with hairspray and rub it on the fabrics for anti-clinging. Ironically, I went looking for a black transparent shirt or blouse, and when I finally found one that wasn’t sold out, I ended up with a white and a blue. A sure sign that the sun and hopefully soon coming spring is rubbing me the right way. I’m ready to jump in the ocean with these shirts this summer! Transparent clothes look perfectly sexy soaked, if you ask me. Straight from sea is the new out of bed look.

Hedi Slimane Interview

Wednesday, February 24th, 2010

Photos: hedislimane.com/diary

Style.com’s editor in chief, Dirk Standen, is doing a series of interview with leading figures in the fashion  industry about the future of fashion.  Just read the one with former designer for Dior Homme and photographer, Hedi Slimane, over here. His photo diary filled with black and white photos are definitely one of my absolute favorites. According to style.com this is his first interview in almost three years, and I thought I should tip you about some interesting reading. It’s a long interview, but elusive Slimane gives his own insight and good answers about the challenges and new opportunities that lie ahead in a world of digital revolution. Highly recommended for anyone interested in fashion behind the surface!

Live Stream: Burberry Prorsum AW2010

Tuesday, February 23rd, 2010

Above Christopher Bailey is getting ready for his runway show showing later today at London Fashion Week over at the show space the day before.

I received a mail from Burberry a few weeks ago about the great news that Burberry is to live stream its upcoming Autumn Winter 2010/11 womenswear show in 3D to events in New York, Paris, Dubai, Tokyo and Los Angeles. It’s the first fashion show streaming in 3D, no wonder the Burberry team is excited. I am too! Burberry Prorsum is always one of my favorites during London Fashion Week and I’m looking forward to see what Bailey has cooked up for this next season without waiting for the press photos to roll in.

Since I’m not finding myself in neither of the cities streaming the show in 3D (too bad! I was looking forward to using my dorky 3d-glasses again), I’m taking my seat right here in my own couch at live.burberry.com to watch it in 2D live at 4 PM (GMT) later. Who needs front row when we have live stream row?

Because I’m Worth It?

I’m home at Oslo for a short visit this weekend. Mostly for business, but I also have to sneak in some pleasure of course! The main purpose is actually to go to a specialist to check my eyes. I’ve had this continuous eye infection since November now with one week break or so. Nothing seems to help and I’m getting resistant to antibiotics. Because of the on going eye infection I’ve thrown out all my old make-up, bought new and ended up having to throw it again! Such a waste. With my student budget I actually can’t afford any new make-up now, because we know it’s expensive, that’s why Caroline is throwing a contest where the prize is a make-up kit from L’Oreal Studio Secrets, which is perfect in my case or for any girls loving make-up. Second thought, it’s only perfect if I win. Hah. So pretty please, let me win?!

Top model Linda Evangelista is revealing her beauty secrets with the release of the Studio Secrets line by L’Oreal. Looks like the collection contains amongst other a lot of trendy lip-gloss and lipstick shades that I like, along with a bunch of useful primers for a nice price. Primers are a must for an even foundation and the foundation is everything. Can’t paint on the wrong paper.

After browsing through the products my favorite by choice is the Anti-Redness Primer. No, it’s not a green foundation, it’s just great to blend in with your usual foundation to decrease redness. As many other Asians I lack an enzyme that breaks down the alcohol in a normal way, so whenever I drink alcohol (doesn’t matter how much) my skin turns red in amusement for my friends. (Random fact of the day!) That’s why an anti-redness primer would be perfect for my party make-up. Great tip for this after-ski season too. The cold often leaves the face red, and to avoid looking like Rudolph the Reindeer, the green primer is the thing.

Desperately Seeking Underwear

I got sent home from the library earlier today because I’ve obviously catch a not fun cold. Spent the rest of my day on the couch under the dune and catch up with films I missed earlier during lectures. Recently saw Desperately Seeking Susan from 1985 starring Madonna and Rosanna Arquette. Today’s fashion actually reminds me a lot of the style in the film. Trendy girls today aren’t exactly pulling off the trash-chic style Madonna started back in the 80s today, but we’re in love with the red lips, studs, overload of jeweleries, big earrings and not to mention underwear worn as clothes. Underwear worn on show had another symbol in Desperately Seeking Susan but girls on the street now most likely wear it because it looks hot. And some of the girls do look hot hot hot!

Sonia Rykiel released an underwear collection for H&M this weekend. I like the black lace corset top, but personally I’d feel too naked wearing only that and a blazer. I guess I’m too preppy for that style. On the other hand, the fantastic Hanneli is giving away this beautiful embellished bra over at her blog, and I know exactly how I’d wear that wonderful piece without feeling naked. I don’t have much winning luck in anything. but it doesn’t hurt to try! One day the luck must turn, hopefully this time. Sooo want this one! Try your luck too! :)

Coco Duffel Contest

We’ve seen it on the arms of celebrities and style icons. Elin Kling loves it. Hanneli Mustaparta looks exceptionally good carrying it. I’m talking about the Alexander Wang Coco Duffel bag. One of my top favorites this year, and now we have the chance to win the it-bag.

Norwegian contest over at Costume. Try your luck! Only a few days left.

Red Is In The Air

07-okt-09-3

Didn’t get more than 2 and a half hours of sleep last night and had a long session with lectures today. I haven’t even had time to catch up on the last Gossip Girl episode, so when I woke up all dizzy this morning the first that came to my mind was this outfit in the spirit of GG. I normally just wear red trousers in the spring and summer, but the latest Chanel collection made me wanting to wear red below any time of the year.

White shirt with heart details (Viktor & Rolf for H&M), red chinos (Bik Bok), navy coat (Marc by Marc Jacobs), blue studded belt (Zara), grey shoes with blue laces (Zara TRF), blueberry leather bag (Balenciaga), Scottish patterned cashmere scarf (ex-boyfriend’s ;)), beige H-bracelet (Hermes)

If you’re in Stockholm from tomorrow, remember to check out the Sthlm Fashion Market, which is on going from October 8th – 10th. Fabulous brands for a cheaper price and on top a dose of entertainment! Check out their website for program, info and to buy tickets in advance.

Sunday Love

Sunday, September 20th, 2009

Last night I went for a dive in Jacob’s Creek and emptied a bottle of rosé wine. Eventually met up with Jessica and her friends and ended up at Spy Bar. I actually hated the music, but it was fun dancing and checking out the club life of Stockholm.

Today I’ve pretty much spent the day sleeping, lunching and coffeeing at Odensplan and Østermalm in the sunny weather. I’m looking forward to a new week tomorrow, hopefully full of efficiency.
