Forget The Hills. Forget The City. The new reality tv-show Kell On Earth is the real deal. If you’ve seen the latest seasons of The Hills before Lauren went off the show, you probably remember Kelly Cutrone. She was the owner and boss of People’s Revolution where Whitney transferred from Teen Vogue and then Lauren followed in her footsteps. The first episode revolves around New York Fashion Week, a good timing of airing the episode now in February a.k.a Fashion Week craze, and the office’s work with the guestlist and seatings before some selected fashion shows. We also get a glimpse of Kelly’s life outside the office as a single-mom (not very far outside since her apartment actually is in the same building as the office) with her 7 years old daughter Ava. The best quote of episode 1 is actually by this young girl:
I am not getting dressed up for third row (Ava).
Genius comment because it’s the truth. The row seatings at Fashion Week often defines whether you’re in the business or not, as Kelly explains on the show, if you’re seated behind third row you’re some what not that important. Seems like Ava doesn’t only got the facts set straight, but also the “snottiness” from her mother who started a meeting with: “If you have to cry, go outside.”, which also is the title of her book.
The fashion PR industry is a hard one. So if you’re interested in it beyond the clothes, pretty perfect L.A teens and relationships drama, Kell On Earth is the show for the real insight of this world. And if you ask me, Kelly’s new assistant, Andrew Mukamal, is way more interesting than Lauren Conrad, Whitney Port and Olivia Palermo all together.
