Burberry Prorsum FW2012

Photos (collage): style.com

Burberry Prorsum already had me drooling over their fall/winter 2012 collection when the constant Instagram photos were shared during the show in London. The recipe for fall/winter success is according to Christopher Bailey: lots of peplums, tweed, bow belts (!!), sweatshirts with animal drawings, feminine coats, flared details, studded leather gloves, bomber jackets and parkas combined with pencil skirts. And of course there was a bit of the Burberry touch with checks patterns, vintage florals and belted waits. It’s sort of city girl meets country girl.

In other words, the result is totally my cup of tea. Quirky, preppy, chic and classy – made with materials of the fall. Luckily (in one way), I’m seeing a big copycat potential for the high street shops. I bet it wont be difficult to find a tee with an own print or a bow belt for a reasonable price after summer.

Louis Vuitton Spring/Summer 2012

The Louis Vuitton Spring/Summer 2012 campaign is one of my favorites of all times. It’s all sugarcoated and filled to the top with this seasons hottest colors. The fabolous photos are shot by Steven Meisel of course, and the clothes are presented to me as a candy store. I want it all! Maybe not all the bags, but yes, I want the chic-romantic dresses, the scalloped details, the cute blouses and the pastel jackets. And oh, the pointy shoes!

Victoria by Victoria

For some reason I always end up fancying the sister lines more than the main lines of most designers. VICTORIA by Victoria Beckham Spring 2012 Collection is one of the girliest collections this season. It’s filled with flirty dresses in poppy red, jade, candy pink, whimsical details and cute patterns. I love the brocade in pastel, the scallop patterns, the quirky cats inspired by the cartoon character Emily Strange, and of course the popping colors – including the one in all ivory.

Thomas Tait

Monday, January 9th, 2012

I’ve been ill and off schedule lately, that means I’ve spent way too much time in bed watching old Grey’s Anatomy episodes and playing The Sims. Yesterday I pulled myself together and wrote an article about one of London’s newest talents, Thomas Tait. He is young and “only” showed at London Fashion Week the past two seasons, but I’m a fan of him and his designs already. And that again means you should check it out too.

The Smell of YSL

This is what I call the smell of YSL. Mmm. Muse Two bag, Tribtoo pumps and other yummy fashion snacks. Wouldn’t mind smelling (and touching!) any of these items under the Christmas tree this year. I’m really crushing over the color-blocked version of YSL Muse Two bag at the moment. Very Natalie, if I can say so myself.

Sophisticated Youth

One of my favorite collections from the Fashion Weeks so far is 3.1 Phillip Lim. He never disappoints me and that’s why my fashion-ego loves him. The Spring 2012 collection is inspired by something as youthful as a kite. Works for me. Just look at the cuttings and loose edges, the playful but sophisticated touch, and in addition the clothing and styling is perfectly minimalistic. And as style.com said it: The models are ready to hit the street, and that was the point.

Inspirasjonen funker fint for meg.

Waiting For The Eagle To Land

Tuesday, January 11th, 2011

Photos: net-a-porter.com, denimblog.com, prettyballerinas.com & acnestudios.com

Recently I’ve fallen in love with Acne‘s Eagle leather jacket in red. I can’t stop thinking about it and it got me fantasizing about the coming season where the Celsius adds up to plus and the ground has soaked up all the snow and wet. When that time arrives I’m going back to basics – preferably in new jeans by Mardou & Dean, a comfy wool-blend knitted sweater, lace up shoes or any other shoes by Pretty Ballerinas, accessorized with Alexander McQueen metallic leather skull wrap bracelet, accompanied by a simple and clean leather clutch like the above from Yves Saint Laurent and of course with Acne Eagle like a cherry on top of an sundae.

Band of Outsiders

Monday, November 8th, 2010

Photos: style.com

My new found preppy inspiration and designer brand is Band of Outsiders. Even though I have moments where I go a bit schizo-chic style wise and experiment other departments, I always have the tendency to return to the preppy core with my own new preppy twist. Probably the reason why I fell for Scott Sternberg (the designer behind the collections) and his way of tweaking preppy American classics. My longing for fall/winter inspiration just got satisfied.

Min siste og nyoppdaget kilde for inspirasjon under stilkategorien preppy dukket opp hos merket Band of Outsiders.

Burberry Prorsum SS2011

Friday, September 24th, 2010

Source: BURBERRY SS11 Backstage from V Magazine on Vimeo.

I’ve felt partly lost style wise lately. After reordering my room and wardrobe solutions I’ve figured I want to throw out most of my clothes and start from scratch. Probably wont happen anytime soon, but I’m getting rid of a lot now in the near future and by spring time I wouldn’t mind replacing it with the Burberry Spring/Summer 2011 Collection. Gosh! Christopher Bailey can dress me up anytime because I wouldn’t mind being a Burberry girl!

I love the unexpected but adaptable and wearable pieces throughout the collection. The reinvented trench coats and biker jackets always get me going – most of all I like the confident touch the clothes reflect with that raw edge. Yes yes yes!

Marc by Marc Jacobs SS2011

Photos: style.com

Marc by Marc Jacobs Spring/Summer 2011 collection is fun and playful as it always is. Nothing quite outside the box, just the right amount quirky-chic as I like it. I’m a fan of the hats and bags along with the splash of colors in the collection. And oh, the stripes. You did notice the stripes, right? ;)

Speaking of Marcy Marc (no, not the one and only Mark Wahlberg, duh!), Marc by Marc Jacobs is opening their first independent store in Sweden – located in Stockholm next week. I’m bummed out because I’m missing out on the grand opening, but I can’t wait to visit it next time I’m over the border again. Woop!

Madonna + Miu Miu = Fun

Wednesday, August 25th, 2010

The one and only Madonna some how ended up directing the Miu Miu Fall Winter 2010/2011 Ad Campaign just for fun. Rumor has it that she only stopped by the set to pick up two of the photographs for a dinner date. And I sure do like the fun in the video. Spunky candyfloss colors  in Miu Miu style and four models (amongst them our Norwegian girl, Siri Tollerød) dancing to funky music. Reflects how fun it is wearing playful dresses, matching make-up and fall’s coolest patent shoes. Just quirky enough for my taste!

Stella McCartney Resort 2011

Tuesday, June 22nd, 2010

Photos: style.com

From the view of this blog lately it sounds like the only designer I like at the moment is Stella McCartney. Not really far from the truth, because her latest Resort 2011 Collection is worth a whole lot of love and praise. It’s perfectly optimistic and pre-springy just like the designer herself describes her love for the early spring period in Nicole Phelps review at style.com. Not only do McCartney and I share the same love for early spring, I would like to think that we share some what the same taste in fashion. Because my heart and I really fell in love with this collection and how it’s so sleek and feminine at the same time, with the touch of power on top of it. The suits in different colors and the floral prints which reminds me of my biology classes are my favorites – and we all know clean lines and shapes are a weakness of mine. Pretty damn purrrfect!

If I was to dress in one designer this spring I would definitely be the much blogged about Stella McCartney Spring/Summer 2010 woman. No doubt. I’m doing my own inspiration take on one of the outfits above today. Can you guess which one? Now I’m off for dinner just down the street. Smell you later!

Remember Now

Monday, May 10th, 2010

After spotting a bunch of models amongst other Freja Beha Erichsen, Abbey Lee Kershaw, Heidi Mount and Karolina Kurkova in Karl Lagerfeld’s trailer of his coming short film titled Remember Now, I’m excited much to see the whole sha-bam! Party on.

Jade Jagger for Indiska

Wednesday, April 28th, 2010

Photos: Private

Today has been a full day with everything, mostly fun. Stopped by the launch of the collaboration of Jade Jagger for INDISKA during the afternoon and walked into a showroom filled with summer and relaxed atmosphere. Even the Jade Martinis with champagne shots on the side and the finger food were screaming refreshingly Ibizia summer spirit. The collection which consists of clothes, jeweleries and interior pieces is very bohemian chic like Jade Jagger’s own style and INDISKA’s concept.

I’m not sure about the clothes fit into my personal wardrobe yet, but I really like the pieces of the furnishing collection. The whole collection will be out in stores on May 12. In my opinion some collaborations nowadays are either a hit or miss, this will most likely be a hit, since both parts make up to a complete and true design collaboration. What do you think? You like?

Marc’s Models

Wednesday, April 7th, 2010

It’s 1:30 am, a new day has already started and I recently arrived home from an event full day. Just got out from the shower and had my first meal since lunch at work which was at 4 pm. Should jump into to bed soon since a new and just as full day awaits me in Oslo when I wake up tomorrow morning, then I clicked into this great film over at AnOther Mag directed by Chadwick Tyler and arrived in my own wonderland.

The models from the Marc by Marc Jacobs AW2010 are gathered in this cute clip that just makes you smile. If I remember correctly, Marc Jacobs handpicked his models on the street for this show. This is how the menswear stylist for Marc by Marc Jacobs Alister Mackie describes the models:

They wear the clothes, the clothes don’t wear them. They can perhaps be less conventionally beautiful than other models, but this show is really about models who can project something of themselves through the clothes.

Marc Jacobs Mixtape

Monday, March 29th, 2010

Photos: marcjacobs.com

Obviously I just discovered, thanks to Nylon Magazine, that there’s a section on Marc Jacobs‘ website marked “special items” offering different stuff in the style of the Marc Jacobs house – everything from surfboards to wallets to USB hubs.

There is always something old school and charming about mixtapes or maybe the memory of your boyfriend making one to you is cute enough. Some of my friends still remember my Christmas cassette which I spray painted in silver and wore around my neck as a hipster-ish necklace. Probably one of the items I’ve ever wore that has got most attention in social contexts. Strangers wanted to play my cassette, others used it as an excuse to bring me to an after-party where music was needed. Haha, yeah right.

Either way, my personal relationship to mixtapes is obviously a good one. No surprise that I, along with Nylon, fell instantly and hard for the USB hub shaped as a mixtape by Marc Jacobs and it’s only available at Marc by Marc Jacobs boutiques. Each tape cassette is decorated with doodles and letters. Pretty cute!
