Today’s gonna be a good day… Just because it’s already is! Let me share three reasons why:

Un. Today’s lecture at school was about fashion journalism. Very interesting indeed. We briefed through the history of the biggest fashion magazines with focus on Vogue, then followed by fashion photography. When I opened my computer to write notes, the first thing that hit me was my desktop posted below, very spot on in other words. I miss the old covers of Vogue. Not that I lived before the years of 1986, but by browsing through the archive they look so much more appealing. Now every magazine cover looks the same.

Deux. My favorite Chanel showed it’s AW2010 Collection in Paris today. Looks like Karl Lagerfeld has been watching a lot of Ice Age lately. The runway was a huge real ice berg melting while the models went down wearing fur and other winter friendly chic wear with a hint of haute couture. Finally a designer who actually makes clothes wearable for the winter and not only the fall. If Chanel made the clogs an it-item this coming spring, I’m smelling that the mukluks are going to be big this winter.

Trois. Gossip Girl is finally back on the screen after a pause. I can’t wait for more Upper East Side drama. I’m saving the newest episode showed yesterday, “The Hurt Locket“, for tonight as a prize for today’s hopefully efficient reading for the coming exam. Is my life sad if this is the highlight of my week? Hah. Who says spending 50 minutes with my future husband aka Chuck Bass is sad? I think not!

I’m sitting here at the Uni library reading about Italian fashion under fascism with focus on the Futurist fashion and it’s manifestos as a part of my course literature, at the same time the photos from the Balenciaga AW2010 Collection arrive directly from Paris Fashion Week. In a way the sci-fi and abstract shapes in pastels blended with vibrant colors and patterns remind me of the Futurist fashion I just read about. The Futurist Manifesto amongst other points claimed: “Color! We need color to compete with the Italian sun.” Balenciaga was founded by Spanish Cristóbal Balenciaga with now headquarters in Paris with Nicolas Ghesquière as creative director and still I find resemblances to the Italian fashion, although if I continue reading my literature instead of refreshing my Twitter for Paris Fashion Week updates every five seconds, I’d learn that the Italian fashion was trying to free itself from French hegemony and that’s probably why I find the latest Balenciaga collection a bit like a 21st century version of the Futurist fashion which tried ruling Italian fashion with the Manifesto during the 1914.
If you’re still hanging on to my geekish blabber about course literature and history, esthetically I find this collection so refreshing and I’m loving all the details, structures, patterns, and of course the avant-garde shapes that are very Balenciaga. That house never stops to surprise and amaze me. Are you yeaying are naying? I’m definately yeaying. The future looks bright!

I’m starting my Monday with a set of amazing photos from the image diary of Danny Roberts from Igor+André. The photos (love the editing here!) along with the Chris Benz Fall 2010 Collection are stunning! Like wowz!
Monday means agenda day. Except that I like planning my week when Monday starts (instead of Sunday), so I can plot in things to do and events to go to but still keep it impulsive and open, it’s always nice to start the week off with a bam! I’m off to do my bamming stuff now, so enjoy the photos and I might smell you later.

It’s in the details that there is spiritual power, I’d even risk calling it soul. (Tom Sachs)
Tom Sachs is spot on, at least in the context of the Burberry Prorsum Autmn/Winter 2010 Collection. The show which ended London Fashion Week has been on everyone lips even before it started. The celebrity factor was so high that the usual front row faces like Olivia Palermo and Julia Restoin-Roitfeld had to settle for second row! I’m not going to stop the hype right here yet. Besides from considering to rob a bank to afford every outerwear item from the collection, I still can’t stop obsessing over the shearling-lined buckle boots. Like Dazed & Confused said on Twitter, this solves the UGG problem. The fur and lamb skin trend is getting bigger with every Fall 2010 show. PETA might complain, but I’m honestly not, because Burberry Prorsum’s fur and shearling-lined aviator jackets are perfect for the cold winters while looking amazingly chic with an edge, not to mention they will last for seasons.
Besides from the much talked outerwear and buckled boots, the decadent lace in perfectly English chic style, the studded bags and even the few pieces of menswear had me fall head over heels in love with Burberry Prorsum next season.
Ok, I’ll stop blabbering about my obsession now and start joining the weekly lottery. If I win I’ll first nurture my love for this collection, then treat one of you trusted readers with one of the pieces from the collection. So which one is your favorite?

Did you catch the live streaming of the Burberry Prorsum Autumn Winter 2010 Collection that just went down in London? I certainly did, and wow! For your own sake you should know by now the fact that Burberry is a master in outerwear, and combined with Christopher Bailey’s eye for details it’s seldom a miss. I’m still fantasizing about being a happy owner of one of the shoulder detailed epaulette trench coats from the Spring 2010 Collection. They are beyond amazing! But we’re not going to talk about the Spring Collection now, because the coming fall Burberry Prorsum is feeding us with one great outerwear after another. While watching the live stream I found myself wanting so to say every piece of outerwear that went down the runway, from the uniform inspired coats in navy to the quilted leather aviator jacket to the patched white fur coats making me think of sheep or lambs gone chic. Psst, some items are already available for order right here until 26 February for whoever got the wallet.
The fantastic outerwear and beautiful details were actually no surprise, the shearling-lined buckled boots on the other side, it had my jaw drop and drooling momentarily. I’m not a stiletto person in general, but those boots are going to be tough to get out of my mind, so someone please put them on my feet instead. Rawr!
And yeah, the color palette? I already shared my excitement when the pre-fall collection came out. I’ll most likely continue my Burberry Prorsum craze when the press photos arrives. In the mean time, let’s hail Christopher Bailey for Burberry. After all, he also won the designer of the year prize at Elle Style Awards last night. Congrats!

I’ve sold wooden shoes/clogs in all colors and textures throughout my last years of experience as a shoe seller, but I’ve never embraced them myself. Now that the trend is coming and as the trend whore I am, they are slowly growing on me. Well, only some of them. I recently mentioned the Alexa Chung for Madewell collection and Karin blogged a few photos from the collection today and I noticed how similar the clogs from the collection and the ones I spotted at Zara the other day are. I really like the details. Can’t put a finger on exactly what it is, besides that they’re clogs coolness.

New York Fashion Week is ending today and I finally have time to catch up on all the shows from my favorite Fashion Week now that I’m back somewhere with an internet connection that doesn’t spend half a lifetime to load an image.
My favorite of all is actually Proenza Schouler. That’s a new one. Yes, it even beats Marc Jacobs and Marc by Marc Jacobs this time. (I’m sorry, Marc!) Schouler actually had me at the babydoll dresses in the fierce patterns and exclusive colors. After the Fashion Weeks so far I’m definitely smelling a trend with visible sheer socks, but the thigh high socks are just cool enough for school peaking just below the dress. I love the total coolness of the rest of the collection: the patterns, the mix-matching, the royal blue, the touch of fur and the hint of preppyness – not to mention the last girl in my collage who is Jenny Sinkaberg a friend of mine from high school rocking the runways nowadays. The Proenza Schouler girl is ready for college, and I so want to be that girl this fall.

Cutie and cover girl at the moment, Alexa Chung, is sending a photo from her phone every day in February to Vogue to document her outfits in the ‘Today I’m wearing…” section. The first ones are from Buenos Aires and the latter from her home in London. I find it difficult not to like her very simple, yet perfectly chic with a personal hint, style. After all, she even got a bag over at Mulberry named after herself. Luckily for that, because I know I speak for a lot of girls when I say we love the Alexa bag very much.
No surprise that her collaboration with the American brand Madewell reflects a collection of a big dose of cool and fun with Chung’s cuteness on top of it. Check out the Alexa Chung for Madewell collection over at Nylon. I love how the styling of the socks makes the perfect quirky detail!

Anyone awake? Well, you should be!!! In less then 10 minutes Marc Jacobs is broadcasting live from New York his Fall/Winter 2010 Collection over at live.marcjacobs.com. So tune in asap for a seat at the show and wait for it to begin, in the meantime Robert Duffy is tweeting like a maniac and the crew backstage is getting ready with the models to hit the runway. I’m like a monkey with an unpeeled banana right now! Call me a geek or a fan or whatever. I just can’t wait!

When Copenhagen Fashion Week ends New York Fashion Week is rolling like hot wheels on a Mercedes-Benz car at the Bryant Park tents. If I have to mention another designer showing in New York besides from Marc Jacobs (and his underline) who often tickles my fancy, it’s Danish designer Peter Jensen. Probably because he’s Scandinavian, his designs are very typical my style, and also because he always makes preppy-quirky clothes with his own cute twist.
He showed his Fall 2010 Collection in New York instead of London yesterday on Valentines Day and who else was more appropriate to perform love songs live during his show than Nina Persson from The Cardigans? Lovely dovey music throughout the show while the models went down the catwalk in a schoolgirl charm style. The doll-ish shoes with black socks in were my favorite. Aaand the hats! Sailor inspired style hat for fall. I want so many hats next season that I have to join the royal family and find my own hat designer.

Gosh, I love the whole theme of the Burberry Spring Summer 2010 Accessories Collection. The color tones are like a box of vanilla ice cream swirled in caramel. The sand and nude shades are perfect for this spring and summer. I’m a sucker for monochrome, that’s why mixing different shades of beige, sand, nude and white is so clean but yet a bit thrilling. The white walls and backgrounds in the collection campaign are in other words the sprinkles on top. I’m really an anti-socks-in-sandals person, but the beige socks in the open heels actually works very well. And precisely as ice cream, this is probably the reason why the Burberry brand never goes out of style. It’s too yummy to resist.

Acne is way cool in every possible term. After attending the Acne party last night at Enskilda Galleriet, I’m convinced that the Acne crew don’t only succeed in their ‘Ambition to Create Novel Expressions’ but also throw the best Fashion Week parties. So many cool and inspiring people gathered at one place.
Before the party designer Jonny Johansson showed the Acne Pre-Fall 2010 collection for women and main wear for men here in Stockholm. A lot of flight gear inspired pieces. The shoes this fall is even more awesome than ever. Acne can’t stop but amaze me on that part. For pictures visit Caroline.
The day before Johansson showed the Acne AW2010 collection in East London. The show was entitled ‘Svart Snö‘ (Black Snow) while the inspiration source was Star Wars: The Clone Wars. How awesome ain’t that? I’m usually not a big fan of sci-fi, but this fascinates me beyond the galaxy! The models forehead were painted in metallics and we see the cartoons and droids inspiration throughout the collection. The chance is very big that I might want to look like a chic galactic warrior this fall.

I think every Chanel show is the main event of every Fashion Week period for me. I love couture over ready to wear, although couture is something I’ll probably never wear in my lifetime, it’s still some of the most beautiful pieces that walk down the catwalk in Paris.
It’s the first time in my whole career I’ve done a collection without black or navy. There’s not one gold button. (Karl Lagerfeld)
Horray for silver and pastels. Everything looks so delicate in a futuristic meets elegant shapes way. The bride and groom pair is a good example. Actually, I think I might find my silver tights from the closet immediately. The heart-bow shaped hair is my favorite hairdo for the spring. Forget the Wang braid. The Chanel hair even wants me to cut heavy bangs once again.

Some loved the clothes, others loved the Mickey Mouse bow in the hair, I love the make-up from the Louis Vuitton Fall 2009 collection. Natural foundation with thick black eyeliner and brown groomed brows. Lovely fall/winter look!
I use a black liquid eyeliner on a daily basis and I know many think liquid is a pain to work with. If you’re one of them, I would recommend Maybelline Liner Express. The pencil point is precise and easy to apply. I do my make-up on the bus all the time without any trouble. It also stays on all day.

I went running around every shop before New Years Eve trying to find the perfect red dress without any luck. Most of it was t to the acky! According to Asian traditions red dress means luck for the new year. It’s a bit late now, but the coming H&M Garden Collection is featuring the perfect red dress. 2010 might not bring the luck I wished for, but at least it brings the clothes I want.
The Garden Collection is totally my cup of spring tea. It doesn’t hurt that the materials that are used for the clothes are organic and recycled. Good for the environment and good for fashion. Love the romantic patterns and cuts and even though I have to get through -14-18C this winter – the spring will be worth the wait!

Hottest new-coming star on the style scene in New York is currently Alexander Wang. Besides from being on every fashionistas lips, he recently designed a capsule collection for Net-A-Porter. Here’s some of my favorites from the collection. Very Wang indeed, and the best of it is that I just want to snuggle with all the clothes and smell the yummy fabrics. Yes please to the ‘Lattice bobble sweater’ or the ‘Wool-blend blazer’. Or the ‘Croc-print razer back vest’…or…or…or…all of it?

When did Chanel move from Paris to Shangai? Probaby on Thursday when Karl Lagerfeld showed his Pre-Fall 2010 Collection at no other location than China. Lagerfeld recently directed a short-film titled Paris-Shanghai: A Fantasy, and the Oriental inspiration is obviously present in this collection.
Are vibrantly colored over-knee boots going to be popular next fall? Let’s hope so. We all need a splash of color in our wardrobe. Are the ching-chong hats hitting the accessories trend charts? It would have been kinda cool. Then I wouldn’t feel so lonely as a typical Twinkie-Asian (yellow on the outside, white on the inside). And not to mention, the hats work great for both rainy and sunny days. Protects you from the sun and the rain easily falls down the hat leaving you dry in the head area. We might be yellow, but we’re not dumb!

Sneak peak of Burberry Prorsum Pre-Fall 2010 arrived over at style.com. So far so good! Love the military inspired coats and jackets with the added shoulder pads. The color palette is perfect fall. Makes me want to wear it all this year already or looking forward to the Fashion Week craze in February. First it’s Christmas and New Years. Happy December 1st!
