Thank You 2009

Sunday, January 3rd, 2010

Thought I’ll give you a bit personal insight on my life and share some highlights of year 2009 with you.

JANUARY had a great start with Fred Falke at Blå with the girls and set the tone for exciting events and clubbing for the coming months. Random party with the old gang and the girls from work and the fun had just begun!

january

FEBRURARY was amongst other spent in London shopping, partying, artsy’ing, eating too much and being stuck in the city because of snow chaos. To top the month off I fell in love and Alan Braxe came to Oslo.

february

MARCH made time for more travelling. A spontaneous trip to Milano with the fun people resulted in spring fever and The Killers in concert. True story!

march

APRIL was mostly spent working and cuddling besides from the usual partying during the Easter. Baked a lot of my famous buns with topping and sprinkles and ate a lot of candy.

april

MAY was actually too good for words. Too much fun, too much bonding, too much personal drama, but all in all the time of my life. I cut 20 cm of my long hair, had flowers in my hair, attended birthdays every weekend, had a bottle of cava a day and regular trips to the park for chill outs. Norway won Eurovision and I hosted a successful party the same night with the greatest people in town. Continued the next morning with more cava and celebrated the best 17th of May (National Day in Norway) of the century! Fun times!

may

JUNE was hot and sizzlin. Besides from the normal summer and spontaneous fun the month ended with a totally awesome festival week at Hovefestivalen. Saw a bunch of bands, djs and artists on top of other relaxing activities like tanning, laughing and consuming beer.

june

JULY was spent moving around. Worked as usual, partied as always, got addicted to Lemon Breeze and had the best one festival day at Oslo Live with all my loved ones. Every Sunday was also spent at Skaugum feeding my feet with Footfood and freaky stalkers.

july

AUGUST was full of turbulence and fun. I tried making the most out of my last weeks in Oslo by partying hard and coping with drama. Had a goodbye party, packed my bags and moved to Stockholm on my own without a place to stay or certain plans.

august

SEPTEMBER arrived and I managed to fix apartment and studies in a week. I was quickly adapting to a new life in a new country all by myself. Spent too much time at IKEA. Luckily my first visitor came before I could say Stockholm.

september

OCTOBER made time for more visitors, kladdkake, Stureplan, reading and exam. Followed by a trip home to see my precious, work and celebrate my birthday in advance.

october

NOVEMBER was a tough economic month and the activities were boring. Spent most of my time being ill, but highlighted the month with a spontaneous trip home to Oslo to surprise two of my best girlfriends on their birthday. Totally success, cakes in my bag, ‘Pussycat Rocks’, dj bonding and lots and lots of fun!

november

DECEMBER was filled with even more illness and a few more visitors who made Stockholm a nice place to be. Had evenings with Idol at my place with the girls and ended Stockholm 2009 with Fashion Networks party followed by an early flight home to Oslo the next morning. Enjoyed Christmas to bits with bestfriends, beer, cava, dancing and other social fun activities on top off too much work. Spent New Years Eve with people who love me and whom I love back.

Voila! This is how our tree ended up looking after a round or two around it last night. My favorite ornaments are the small knitted sweaters covered in sequins decorations and each comes with a cute hanger. And yup, we actually have colorful and very American tree lights including different functions. Awesome!

Sorry for the lack of posts lately – or the lack of interesting posts is more correct, I guess. The health hasn’t been at it’s best lately and my eyes have gotten worse. Can’t go anywhere because one eye is totally blurry. I have to focus a lot just to write this post. Really bad timing with work and pre-christmas fun. I don’t want to be stuck in bed sleeping all day, I want to meet up with my friends and be around people when I’m first home for Christmas.

Oh well, enough whine because I’m running empty for cheese here. If I have to continue to be stuck in bed I would do it fashionably and preferably with the outfit above. Black, white, stripes, dotted tights and a dash of red. Yes, please! And if I have to cover my handicap blurry eye I would do it with a bow hairband.

Dead And Alive

I’m dead and buried somewhere under one of these gravestones. Guess which one? Ok, not literally dead. Duh! But I’m tired as an elephant on a bicycle after 3 hours of sleep last night and the longest day in a while. I even went home early from the party last night! Got up at 7 am and barely made my flight from Stockholm to Oslo because of technical problems with an elevator. Then I made it home, in the door and had just enough time to leave my bags, change clothes and jump on the next bus to work. A lot of gift wrapping and stress. Done at 9 pm. Straight off to Christmas work shop, where I dropped the work shop and came for the red wine and porridge. Got a bit christmas spirit for free! Now sleep, work again and party with my homies tomorrow. What does that mean? Rising from the Chanel grave of course!

So it’s already Lucia and the third of advent. Time sure runs fast. I’m slowly getting in the Christmas spirit and it makes me want to wrap everything in bows. Gifts, cupcakes, cakes, buns, books, you name it. Just wearing bows should do though.

Now I’m off to a dinner out at Gamla Stan followed by a beer or two. Enjoy your Sunday!

First Creme Then Cream

hm-shopping-10-dec-09

When I eventually got my butt to the University today I found out that the lectures were canceled. Horray! I tried to read a bit at the library without much luck on the concentration part, so I met up with Jenny and Jessica at Café Creme instead.

Speaking of creme/cream, when I first was in the city I went looking for the blouse that I haven’t been able to get out of my head since I saw it on a display doll during the shopping for Christmas presents with the girls in the past weekend.  Now that I finally had time to try it on, I found out to my dismay that it wasn’t all that on me. But I still think the cream color is so pretty and the lace and all is very me,. Probably why it landed in my bag after all as a pre-christmas present. Ehrem. I also like the fact that the blouse is perfect for all the happenings and events before and during the festive season. It can be styled up and down. Fortunately H&M has a great returning policy so I’m going to think about it. What do you think? Keep or no keep?

I also ran into this bag made by organic cotton which is perfect as a bag for school books for the nice price of 49, 00 SEK.

Sharing Is Caring

1-dec-09-2

It’s the 1st day of December and we’re counting down 24 days to Christmas Eve. Many of the bloggers are sharing advent give-aways for the lucky ones. Very nice of bloggers to share during these pre-christmas times. Christmas is suppose to be a time of sharing – and sharing is caring! Personally, I have too much on my mind  and to cope nowadays on most parts of life, so unfortunately I don’t have much to give. I’ll quote one of Backstreet Boys‘ songs though: “But my love is all I have to give.” Eh, cheesy? Oh yes. I think I’ll settle with sending cyber hugs or share one of the windows from my Hello Kitty Calendar. If you want, that is!

P.S. I love my new blue velvet tights. So comfortable and soft. The color makes me feel pretty. Even on a bad day like this.

Lonely Weekend

Sunday, November 29th, 2009

Thursday was suppose to be spent dancing to Chromeo at Marie Laveau. Nope. Wanted to go out at Berns where Dimitri From Paris was playing on Friday. No. Instead some of the girls from class came over for Idol, wine and candy. Very cozy! Had plans of drinking cava and going clubbing Saturday night. Eh not at all. And today it’s the First Sunday of Advent and I had a lunch date followed by getting in the christmas spirit by checking out the Christmas market at Gamla Stan. Then I wanted to top off the whole weekend by seeing Air in concert tonight. But where am I? Still stuck at home. In other words, my eyes are still infected from hell and looks like I’ve been punched in the face more than one time. Yikes. To sum up, this has been my weekend: Swedish Elle (with The Holiday for free), Ben & Jerry’s, yakitori and sushi take-away from downstairs, Pepsi Max and left over candy.

I also edited the layout of the blog. Just wanted something more simple that doesn’t take forever for you to load the site. Hate it or like it. I guess admitting that I’ve spent more or less the whole weekend alone is sort of social suicide, but who cares!

Oslo Supplies

Tuesday, November 24th, 2009

A foreman was assigned three new workers, two big strong local men, and a little guy from Japan.

Because of their size, the foreman gave the two locals the digging work, and told the Japanese man “You’ll be in charge of supplies.”

After an hour or so, the foreman came back to check on their progress only to find the two locals sitting down doing nothing.

“What happened? Why aren’t you at work?”

The men replied that their tools were broken and that the Japanese man in charge of supplies, had disappeared.

Worried, the foreman ordered the two men outside the mine to help look for the little guy.

Just when they were about to give up the search, the Japanese guy jumps up from behind a rock and yells “Supplies!!”

From joke to truth, I went on a more or less spontaneously surprise visit to Oslo on Saturday. Two of my best-friends were celebrating their birthday and I couldn’t miss it. Their surprised faces when I walked in the room on Saturday were priceless. The rest of the night is going on the top 5 list and history books of fun nights this year. A girl never kiss and tell, but let me share some photos with you.

It started out quite innocent in my bathroom. I was getting ready for the party and were just waiting for a clear signal on the phone from the other guests.

My unexpected visit is what we called a nice surprise and the sign says in Swedish: “It’s my birthday! Ring the doorbell four times to congratulate me.

21-nov-1-1

The girls and boy had made yummy snacks. Cupcakes, cinnamon buns, chocolate dipped marshmallows, brownies, chips and yum.

21-nov-2

Princess Leah from Star Wars also dropped by…

21-nov-3

We sung the birthday song of course…

21-nov-9

We danced to the self-composed but totally awesome song made as a birthday gift by Harry & The Pussycats. Remember their name, the song is coming on out Youtube any day!

21-nov-10

Birthday kiddo #1 and Natalie who by some reason decides to fill her bag with snacks before going out.

21-nov-4

Different shoe choices on the dance floor. Kristina were freezing her feet off, so she started the trend of wool socks inside silver pumps. Awesome!

21-nov-5

The dj appreciated the cinnamon roll fresh from my bag. Something else to spin on!

21-nov-6

The power of HTC brings people together and my newest accessory was suddenly a gray knitted beanie.

21-nov-7

And on our way home after night snacks at half past 3 am we found Santa Claus (a.k.a my friend Fredrik) asleep on the stairs, so we invited him in for after-party.

The rest is history… ;)

Misachivements of the Day

DSC02373

I woke up this morning planning to go to Uni to buy the compendium for the course, but the office was closed. Downer! I got a hold of the book MODE though. Then I went to pick up my white Hermès bracelet at NK, but it’s still stuck in Paris. Buh! Tried finding a gift for my niece. I found this velvet bow hair band in the children department at H&M for myself instead. Ops! Then I went looking for the gray slouchy shorts at Zara photographed below. Sold out. Crap!

DSC01298

But the plans of going out eating Lebanese food for the first time went according  to the plan. What a meal! Now I’m ready for some sleep and essay writing tomorrow. Geek-alert!

Röd

Thursday, November 19th, 2009

The latest album by Kent titled Röd (röd = Swedish for red) actually inspired my outfit for today. All you need is a red skirt and the rest works out by itself. My day has been far from red though.

19-nov-09

TV4 was present during our lecture about the “New Woman” today. I really hope not, but you might see me (and my fellow students of course) on TV some time in January. Then my oufit was photographed to post on a blog. More information about that later. I guess I’m not really celebrity material, because I actually don’t like the camera if I know it’s present or I’m aware of a picture is taken. Ironically, it’s ok to shoot hundreds of outfit photos for this blog. Haha. It’s wonderful how we can live out the self-centered part of ourselves through this media, huh?

19-nov-09-2

I’ve also only met nice people today. That fact has made me smile to everyone I meet all day. It’s the simple contagious effect. A bit like the swine flue. Smile to the world and it smiles back. Touch other people and get the flue. Thank you to the cute little boy who held the door for me at the video rental shop, to the nice and helpful man at Filmhuset, to Dad for the money donation, for the delayed birthday cards in the snail mail, to the handsome guy I helped at the bus station and to all my favorite people in Stockholm (you know who you are ;)). Karma right back at ya!

19-nov-3

Now that I’m done with my thank you speech (where’s my Oscar statue?!), I’m going to color my hair a few shades darker again for the first time in 3 years (gah, exciting!), watch Erotikon directed by Mauritz Stiller (no, it’s not porr although the title makes you draw conclusions) so I can begin on my essay.

Lookbook

Wednesday, November 18th, 2009

I woke up yesterday and didn’t feel very well, and still not feeling better really, so I’m keeping myself in doors. The rain just slapped so hard to the window that I’m afraid to go outside anyways. Now I got all the time in the world to watch porr…eh, I mean surf around on countless websites, amongst other a lot of blogs.

I remember when Lookbook first started in 2008 and I got a personal invite. Then I went all underground, forgot the blog sphere and also forgot all these wonderful fashion collectives. On my surfing boredom I just found this awesome creative guy from Lookbook on a random blog. Go Ninja Turtles! It so reminds me of my childhood filled with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles toys. Uhm, was I a tomboy as a kid? Not really, I just grew up with a lot of uncles.

Now I’m just waiting for my course books to arrive on the door from Amazon so I can do some reading and stop wasting time on the internet. You’re also probably getting tired of my blog posts twice a day.

By the way, I rekindled my Lookbook flame. Follow me if you want to!

A Sunday Spent With Style Icons

fashionista-book

The plan was to eat cake and hang at coffee shops with good company today, but since we’re all hungover and the weather is gray and sad (I must have been an awful girl this year!) I’m staying in and having an all Natalie Day instead.

This birthday afternoon has been spent snuggling up in the couch with hot chocolate and more chocolate on the side with one of my birthday presents ‘Fashionista‘ – a book about style icons of the century. The style icons are divided into categories: the classics, the it girls, the bombshells, the modernists, the artists, the divas, the eccentrics, the candy girls, the rebels and the chameleon. The last category is given to Madonna and her only. Definitely a book that deserves shelf space in my future fashion/photography/music library.  The foreword is also a must read.

Now I’m going to catch up with the last episodes from the new season of So You Think You Can Dance and later cook a yummy dinner. Enjoy your November Sunday!

Happy Birthday To Me

Sunday, November 15th, 2009

natte-23

I guess on our own birthday we’re allowed to be as self-centered as we wish. I totally love my new cupcake earrings that I just want to show them off.

I was pleased with my celebration home in Norway last weekend, so my plan was to skip everything this weekend and just isolate myself. Hah. Since you’re suppose to spend your birthday with your loved ones, and when all your loved ones are far away, it’s sometimes better to just be in your own company. But then I figured that I’d probably become so emo that I’d end up cutting my wrist on my own birthday, so I made an attempt of gathering a few people over at my place for pre-party. Not really a huge success, but I had a good time. We eventually went to Debaser for the first time. I liked the place and music. Not sure of the people. It was an odd mix of everything.

I’m on my way back to Stockholm with one suitcase and one bag filled with “new” clothes. A lot is coming for sale for you and the rest is to keep my warm until my next arrival home in December. So long Oslo. I will miss you.

Work Hard, Play Hard

Thursday, November 5th, 2009

Oslo is treating me with fun and snow. Hello winter! So far so fabulous. Work is fun, friends are fun and everything just floats right. Looking forward to more work and my last weekend here filled with reunions and my own birthday party. After all, I have the best friends in the whole wide world. Work hard, play a bit harder!

Some people count the days to Christmas. I count the days to my homecoming. Only nine days left now – and I’m discoing my way home and out of this cage to Oslo and staying there for whole ten days! I miss my friends so bad that I’m jumping up and down of the thought of going home soon.

If I’m lucky I get to see Phoenix in concert when I’m home. And since I’m a house head and Phoenix is quite remix-friendly these days, I’ve become totally addicted to Phoenix – Love Like A Sunset Part I (Passion Pit’s Shuttle Remix).
