Happy Late Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving has never been a tradition for me (since I’m born and raised in Scandinavia), so I haven’t exactly felt related to the Thanksgiving Weekend that just was. But I can’t help but love this illustration by Danny Roberts over at Igor + André.  Notice how all the models are wearing pieces from Chanel Spring/Summer 2010. Marvelous! The dinner looks a bit skimpy though, but on the other side Karl is feeding his models, and we wouldn’t want them to gain weight, right.

Thank you Mr Roberts for sharing all these nice illustrations with the world wide web and thank you Karl Lagerfeld for keeping it hot and going over at the Chanel House. Love and peace!

Velvet Dreams

velvet-dreams

The velvet appeared heavily on the catwalk during the Fall/Winter 2009 collections, especially over at Fendi, Chloé, Christopher Kane and Marc Jacobs. The velvet tights are in all the high-street shops in different colors and the dresses are coming closely behind. Fashion victims can’t avoid to get hooked.

I’m craving for a pair of midnight blue or gray velvet tights and a burgundy red velvet dress with a V-back. I remember owning a black velvet blazer back in my younger days. I might have to go diving in my wardrobe during Christmas and dry som dust off it.

Lonely Weekend

Sunday, November 29th, 2009

Thursday was suppose to be spent dancing to Chromeo at Marie Laveau. Nope. Wanted to go out at Berns where Dimitri From Paris was playing on Friday. No. Instead some of the girls from class came over for Idol, wine and candy. Very cozy! Had plans of drinking cava and going clubbing Saturday night. Eh not at all. And today it’s the First Sunday of Advent and I had a lunch date followed by getting in the christmas spirit by checking out the Christmas market at Gamla Stan. Then I wanted to top off the whole weekend by seeing Air in concert tonight. But where am I? Still stuck at home. In other words, my eyes are still infected from hell and looks like I’ve been punched in the face more than one time. Yikes. To sum up, this has been my weekend: Swedish Elle (with The Holiday for free), Ben & Jerry’s, yakitori and sushi take-away from downstairs, Pepsi Max and left over candy.

I also edited the layout of the blog. Just wanted something more simple that doesn’t take forever for you to load the site. Hate it or like it. I guess admitting that I’ve spent more or less the whole weekend alone is sort of social suicide, but who cares!

Pretty Collar

Saturday, November 28th, 2009

So come with me, where dreams are born, and time is never planned. Just think of happy things, and your heart will fly on wings, forever, in Never Never Land!

red-lips

Peter: Forget them, Wendy. Forget them all. Come with me where you’ll never, never have to worry about grown up things again.
Wendy: Never is an awfully long time.

Love the Peter Pan collar and the all black and white outfit, preferably with a hint of red lips.  Not to mention the dotted tights Lara Stone is wearing. Gotta have dots!

Thank you for your thoughts on the post below. It helped a lot. We’ll see what I end up with. ;)

Buy Or Not To Buy

zara-leo-jakke

Ok, so I tried this gray leopard print jacket at Zara last week and I can’t really get it out of my head. People always comment about how I never wear thick or warm enough jackets during fall and winter, that’s because I don’t have many I feel comfortable in, so I prefer layering instead. This coat is 80% wool (not fur-ish) and would fit great in my wardrobe. I need a stylish warm jacket that gives me inspiration in the morning.

Pros:

  • Wool keeps me warm.
  • The pattern and color is very trendy, but in a way also timeless.
  • The price isn’t too pricey.
  • The fit and length is perfect.

Cons:

  • Only size medium and large left, which doesn’t fit too perfectly over the shoulders.
  • I should save those money.
  • Is it really “me”?

I need your help, dear readers! Buy or not to buy? That’s always a question.

Needy Girl

Thursday, November 26th, 2009

Started this morning with the film Sunset Boulevard from 1950 at Filmhuset, followed by lunch at my place, then lecture at the University and a round at Söder with Jessica and Jenny. I was looking forward to end the day with beer and great music at Marie Laveau. The Berlin based dj-duo Chromeo is on a DJ-Kicks tour and are stopping by Stockholm tonight. The plan was to dance my feet off to ‘Bonafied Lovin’, ‘Needy Girl’, ‘Fancy Footwork’ and more hip electronic beats, but since I woke up this morning with christmas red eyes, I have to pass. And I don’t mean christmas spirit red, just red eyes in the color of everything christmas. Got some infection so people have probably thought I’ve been sad and cried my eyes out all day. Emo girl. Needy girl. Potato potatooo french fries!

I’m comforting myself with this playlist on Spotify which is all Chromeo instead. It can’t really compare to seeing them play live. Obviously! But it’s better than nothing and hopefully there will always be another chance.

Well, I said I might share what was in my Monki bag yesterday. This patterned circle scarf and a red satin bow. I’m addicted to circle scarves and I never say no to a funky pattern – and bows, you know what I think about them!

DazedandConfused-November

Dazed&Confused November Issue is out online now for those of you who are broke as me or too slow buying magazines. Dazed&Confused is one of my favorite magazines and this issue is no exception. Lily Cole looks out of this world (get it? hihi) on the cover and I wouldn’t mind wearing the beatnik knitted sweater to the right from French Connection either.

I adore quirky beautiful things and accidentally found the AnOther Mag which has a section that features beautiful things they love that I happen to love too. This Surveillance Striped T-shirt by Commune is par example awesome and so is the Lego Camera. I would hit this outfit I just put together anytime!

Monki Bag

Wednesday, November 25th, 2009

I know every fashionista in Oslo is excited about the Monki opening tonight. It’s going to be the new hype in Norway. I personally love the whole theme of the store. The bright colors and the funky interior. H&M‘s little sister has the perfect quirky cool items for students and others on a budget. Unfortunately, the quality often speaks the same language as the price, but there are exceptions.  Just beware of items containing too much acrylic or polyester if you want your clothes to last a bit.

I went for a short visit at Monki in Stockholm city yesterday and  came home with this bag.  Nothing biggie, but I’ve been wanting it since it hit stores and the other item is just a bonus.  I might show you tomorrow what’s inside…or maybe you dare to guess?

Oslo Supplies

Tuesday, November 24th, 2009

A foreman was assigned three new workers, two big strong local men, and a little guy from Japan.

Because of their size, the foreman gave the two locals the digging work, and told the Japanese man “You’ll be in charge of supplies.”

After an hour or so, the foreman came back to check on their progress only to find the two locals sitting down doing nothing.

“What happened? Why aren’t you at work?”

The men replied that their tools were broken and that the Japanese man in charge of supplies, had disappeared.

Worried, the foreman ordered the two men outside the mine to help look for the little guy.

Just when they were about to give up the search, the Japanese guy jumps up from behind a rock and yells “Supplies!!”

From joke to truth, I went on a more or less spontaneously surprise visit to Oslo on Saturday. Two of my best-friends were celebrating their birthday and I couldn’t miss it. Their surprised faces when I walked in the room on Saturday were priceless. The rest of the night is going on the top 5 list and history books of fun nights this year. A girl never kiss and tell, but let me share some photos with you.

It started out quite innocent in my bathroom. I was getting ready for the party and were just waiting for a clear signal on the phone from the other guests.

My unexpected visit is what we called a nice surprise and the sign says in Swedish: “It’s my birthday! Ring the doorbell four times to congratulate me.

21-nov-1-1

The girls and boy had made yummy snacks. Cupcakes, cinnamon buns, chocolate dipped marshmallows, brownies, chips and yum.

21-nov-2

Princess Leah from Star Wars also dropped by…

21-nov-3

We sung the birthday song of course…

21-nov-9

We danced to the self-composed but totally awesome song made as a birthday gift by Harry & The Pussycats. Remember their name, the song is coming on out Youtube any day!

21-nov-10

Birthday kiddo #1 and Natalie who by some reason decides to fill her bag with snacks before going out.

21-nov-4

Different shoe choices on the dance floor. Kristina were freezing her feet off, so she started the trend of wool socks inside silver pumps. Awesome!

21-nov-5

The dj appreciated the cinnamon roll fresh from my bag. Something else to spin on!

21-nov-6

The power of HTC brings people together and my newest accessory was suddenly a gray knitted beanie.

21-nov-7

And on our way home after night snacks at half past 3 am we found Santa Claus (a.k.a my friend Fredrik) asleep on the stairs, so we invited him in for after-party.

21-nov-8

The rest is history… ;)

Wish Item of the Day

monki-caitlin-knitted-sweater

Jenny was surfing through the Monki Collection during lecture today and I couldn’t help but fall for the Caitlin Knitted Sweater. It’s the perfect way to go maritime style during the winter. The sweater contains about 60% wool which will keep you warm and stylish on lazy and cold days. Gotta have!

I’m lucky enough to be blessed with Monki several places here in Stockholm. Now Monki is opening their first store in Norway in Oslo on Wednesday. Lucky you!

Heartbreaker

Monday, November 23rd, 2009

I love the Balenciaga Spring/Summer 2010 show. Not because of the clothes or styling actually, although Nicholas Ghesqueire is always a genius when it comes to texture and fit. But the dj, Michel Gaubert, is also wonderful behind the mixing table. For this Balenciaga show he used two of my favorites: Metronomy – Heartbreaker and Fever Ray – If I Had A Heart (Fuck Buttons Remix). Mmm!

Gosh, what an unusual weekend! Details later. Have to run off to work and then catch a bus back to Stockholm tonight.

Misachivements of the Day

I woke up this morning planning to go to Uni to buy the compendium for the course, but the office was closed. Downer! I got a hold of the book MODE though. Then I went to pick up my white Hermès bracelet at NK, but it’s still stuck in Paris. Buh! Tried finding a gift for my niece. I found this velvet bow hair band in the children department at H&M for myself instead. Ops! Then I went looking for the gray slouchy shorts at Zara photographed below. Sold out. Crap!

But the plans of going out eating Lebanese food for the first time went according  to the plan. What a meal! Now I’m ready for some sleep and essay writing tomorrow. Geek-alert!

Material Mix

Friday, November 20th, 2009

Wow. Two outfits in a row. I surprise myself sometimes. Going for a material mix today containing leather, faux leather, cotton, sequins and wool. I so love my new animal print mittens. Got a million things to do today, so later alligator!

20-nov-09-1

20-nov-09-2

Black faux leather skirt (Gina Tricot), gray baggy cotton sweatshirt (Bik Bok), striped stockings (H&M), black coat (Oasis), black over-knee leather boots (Via Roma), black hobo bag (Marc by Marc Jacobs), animal print mittens (H&M), sequin beanie (Primark), jeweleries (random)

Röd

Thursday, November 19th, 2009

The latest album by Kent titled Röd (röd = Swedish for red) actually inspired my outfit for today. All you need is a red skirt and the rest works out by itself. My day has been far from red though.

19-nov-09

TV4 was present during our lecture about the “New Woman” today. I really hope not, but you might see me (and my fellow students of course) on TV some time in January. Then my oufit was photographed to post on a blog. More information about that later. I guess I’m not really celebrity material, because I actually don’t like the camera if I know it’s present or I’m aware of a picture is taken. Ironically, it’s ok to shoot hundreds of outfit photos for this blog. Haha. It’s wonderful how we can live out the self-centered part of ourselves through this media, huh?

19-nov-09-2

I’ve also only met nice people today. That fact has made me smile to everyone I meet all day. It’s the simple contagious effect. A bit like the swine flue. Smile to the world and it smiles back. Touch other people and get the flue. Thank you to the cute little boy who held the door for me at the video rental shop, to the nice and helpful man at Filmhuset, to Dad for the money donation, for the delayed birthday cards in the snail mail, to the handsome guy I helped at the bus station and to all my favorite people in Stockholm (you know who you are ;)). Karma right back at ya!

19-nov-3

Now that I’m done with my thank you speech (where’s my Oscar statue?!), I’m going to color my hair a few shades darker again for the first time in 3 years (gah, exciting!), watch Erotikon directed by Mauritz Stiller (no, it’s not porr although the title makes you draw conclusions) so I can begin on my essay.

Gray Bags Beat Rainy Days Any Day

The it-bag Coco Duffel Studded  Bag by Alexander Wang came in a new version this fall with silver studs  instead of the gold details. Now it’s in stock in the most beautiful gray color and soft pebble leather. Shown above with it’s mates in suede camel and the exclusive denim leather. The gray one is the perfect gray daily handbag I’ve been looking for since forever, I tell you! Craving, big time! The silver studs could have been a bit more shiny though, on the other hand the unpolished studs give the right edge to it. Anyhow, this is perfection in a bag for me. Anyone who has a generous Santa Claus to recommend? Drop me an e-mail, please!

Lookbook

Wednesday, November 18th, 2009

I woke up yesterday and didn’t feel very well, and still not feeling better really, so I’m keeping myself in doors. The rain just slapped so hard to the window that I’m afraid to go outside anyways. Now I got all the time in the world to watch porr…eh, I mean surf around on countless websites, amongst other a lot of blogs.

I remember when Lookbook first started in 2008 and I got a personal invite. Then I went all underground, forgot the blog sphere and also forgot all these wonderful fashion collectives. On my surfing boredom I just found this awesome creative guy from Lookbook on a random blog. Go Ninja Turtles! It so reminds me of my childhood filled with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles toys. Uhm, was I a tomboy as a kid? Not really, I just grew up with a lot of uncles.

Now I’m just waiting for my course books to arrive on the door from Amazon so I can do some reading and stop wasting time on the internet. You’re also probably getting tired of my blog posts twice a day.

By the way, I rekindled my Lookbook flame. Follow me if you want to!

Bourgeois Is The New Punk

Tuesday, November 17th, 2009

Recently stumbled  upon Kitsuné‘s Spring/Summer 2010 collection titled “Golf Club“. Kitsuné’s collection teasers are too cute! You must watch.

I’m also looking forward to the release of Kitsuné Maison 8. Normally one of my favorite music compilations. You also get a taste of the tracks in the collection teaser above.

While we’re on the wait, read the interview with the Kitsuné crew over at Full Frontal Fashion.
